Hey new to the forum. Im curious as to how i can get lucky and buy a knife that is more of a special release kind of production. Something like a microtech hellhound etc. Is there subforum here that discusses knife release dates? Thanks!

No subforum specifically for that. There are some manufacturer subforums with that information. Also, some individual threads. You'll have to hunt around.

Welcome to the forums and good luck on your hunt!

Instagram and Facebook are good resources also follow the manufacturers or makers your interested in.
They like to drop release dates or teasers there.

And once you find out about a release date. Have the $$ ready to spend and don’t hesitate. The St Nicks para 3 in CPM 4V sold out in a couple hours.

Welcome!

"Special" release knives are also available very soon after the release on The Knife Exchange here on BladeForums.

Ha, yep. Usually withing a week of a limited or special release, someone is either trying to make a profit or just genuinely didn't like the knife and decided to move it. You can usually find them at a slight discount or even money early on from respected non price gouging members.

Also OP, as mentioned above, keep an eye out on FB and IG. Follow makers you're interested in and be ready to pull the trigger when you see something. A lot (most?) custom makers have accounts on FB and IG now it seems and they will do drops of one or more knives from time to time.

There are others that let you register for knives via lottery on their websites. Holt and Grimsmo come to mind. Not sure about Grimsmo but Holt puts up one or multiple knives each Monday morning. You submit you name and email for the knife your interested in that morning and they randomly pick the "winner" who then has first dips to buy the knife within 24 hours.

Absolutely, once u get the info about release date and price, pre-register on the site it's being sold at so you don't have to enter your info. That came into play for the DLT Trading manix 2 in January. That one sold out in just over 7 min. Some companies or sites will give u multiple days heads up, sum give a day or two. DLT gave over a week and BladeHQ for their Millie m4 that dropped today only gave 48hrs or so notice of when it was coming out. But it's been known that it was being released at sum point. Have the money for the blade(s) you want put to the side.

1. Know a guy
2. Have a lot of money
3. If you don't have the first two down, then have a really fast internet connection and be signed up and signed IN at the site when the drop happens. Many a broken heart has come from having a knife yanked from somebody's cart while they were fumblefingering the login.

what are some good pages to follow for both facebook and instagram?

should have clarified if there were other exchanges not just the manufacturer website

I would check out IG. Just type in #customknives, #customknives, #knifemaker, #knives or something like that and you'll be taken to a land of "knife porn". Facebook is a little trickier. You really need a specific knife maker in mind to search there.

You can also take a look at Reddit. Take a look at r/knifeclub, r/knives and r/knife_swap

Bottom line is you just need to start looking and soon you'll be way down the rabbit hole.

There's always tons of stuff on #knifesale #knifeforsale #knives4sale #knivesforsale and #grailsale
