I (because this website is a gateway drug) am the happy new owner of a Nessie pattern. It's a great size, great blade shape, just a really all-around pleasant tool to have and use. Digging through what little I can find on the internet, it's a relatively recent Traylor design, and I don't see but one or two around or for sale (or even sold, for that matter), and those are pretty pricey. Anyone else got one? I'd love to see pictures, and see what's shaking in the custom world. LeClair knives posted a really nice one recently.
I canoe a lot of the same water as Nessmuck did and even though I don't have an old china cup to carry around on trips at least I've got a really neat knife.

Not a "new" design, or a Taylor design. Geo. Washington Sears ("Nessmuk") designed the blade, and used it for many years.
If memory serves, Mr. Sears, AKA: "Nessmuk" passed in early May, 1890.

While not advertised as such, I see a lot of similarities between the "Nessmuk" and the Buck 103. (might be one reason I've always wanted a 103)

I agree "his" knife is better than "Mr. Kephart's" knife for peeling critters, food prep, eating peas, and general camp use.
However, "Mr. Kephart's" knife, (a normal spear point) is much more popular.
