I'm sorry, I couldn't help it, I bought one. I think they look really neat. I've read the warranty is great, I guess I may find out. But my curiosity is killing me about a china connection. thanks!

Made in China.

As a rule of thumb, if a knife company goes out of the way to not tell you where their knives are made, that means it's made in China. If they go out of the way to not tell you and it has pakkawood grips, then Pakistan.

Most of their knives look painful to carry, much less use. There are so many makes and models out there, I don't think I would spend any time or money on Mantis. I don't think they use 440V either. But if you like them and appreciate the designs, more power to you.

jebib, save your money and buy a knife worth having. for the money you paid for that knife, you could have bought a really good knife or one better for a little more.

Their website lists an adress in southern Cali. I was in the area, so I called and asked for a tour, regrettable they said they dont offer tours. Not sure if they make them here, or they import.

Their corporate offices are in California. They don't offer tours because there is no production facility, just couple people working in an office. Nothing to tour really.

Mantis is obviously made in their top secret manufacturing facility in an undisclosed location. Probably someone in the middle of the Nevada Desert.

To be fair, most knife companies probably don't offer tours. Spyderco's HQ in Golden, CO doesn't, and they make knives on the spot there. Apart from the extra time/manpower it would take to offer tours, the main reason would have to be liability and safety. Too much expensive and dangerous equipment around, not to mention flying sparks, simply to let a bunch of gawkers blunder through their facilities.
