I'm thinking about getting these two knives but would like to know the country of origin before I take the plunge. Are these made in the USA?

Thanks
Dave

Are these made in the USA?

Not very likely:

Boker, under the new label BOKER PLUS, is now producing models that meet critical demands. This new series is produced with strict instructions and quality checks by our well-known business partners in the Far East.

From the Boker website.

There are no US made Bokers, since we are a Geerman company. All Bokers are made in either Germany or Argentina.
Boker Plus is made in the Far East, as pointed out earlier, except the Fixed blade S/C.
Magnums are made in China.
Hope this helps.
Terry

I recently bought a Boker Trance, Subcom, and M Type.

The Trance and Subcom were made in Taiwan.

The M Type was made in China.

My Boker Plus Trance, Wharcom, and Action 2 are all made in Taiwan, and are all quality pieces. But I have noticed Subcoms recently being sold under the "Magnum" brand on eBay. Dont know if they are of the same quality, but I'll stick with the "Plus" line, as my experience with them has been great. The 2 Magnums I owned were good enough knives for the $, but not up to the Plus line for blade steel or fit and finish.

DaveReb---Get one. You will love it. STR said that these knives flew under his rader!!

Thanks for the info. I've read nothing but good things about theses knives. Personally I would rather buy only USA made products. That being said, I really like the CLB designed Trance drop point, and Wharcom, and the feedback is so good:thumbup:, as well as the price point, I think I'm going to have to break down and buy these two:D

Thanks

But I have noticed Subcoms recently being sold under the "Magnum" brand on eBay.
The very first Subcoms, at a time the "Boker +" brand didn't exist, where branded "Magnum", so those could originate from this first run. I have one I got from a well established seller.

They were 420 (instead of AUS8 for current production) and were (if I remember correctly) made in Taiwan.

There are no US made Bokers,
Actually, I heard fixed Subcoms are (or at least were) subcontracted to Ontario in the US.

I hate to sound like I'm, correcting but my Boker Plus (Armed Forces Tantos) knives say China and my Magnums say Taiwan .... reguardless they are all good knives. Despite one of my KAL74(s) saying "Magnum" and one saying "Boker Plus" both are made in Taiwan. I scanned this out of the Boker catalog

*correction* (1) Magnum, my Reflection I says China, but it does seem even some of the Boker Plus knives are Chinese. I'd try and take pictures of the blades but the font is so small I doubt anyone would be able to read it.

My Trances and Subcoms all have Taiwan printed on the blades. The new M-Type I just got today had a Made In China sticker on the blade. I know how some folks feel about buying Chinese products from a political/philosophical standpoint, but as far as quality, I wouldn't worry about any of the Boker/CLBs. I have half a dozen of them now without any issues.

I can confirm what Terry has already stated regarding the marking on the blades. Because I have two SubComs from different sources: one from my local armsdealer who orders it DIREKTly(still waiting for it along with the KeyCom and 2008 Magnum:p) from Böker Solingen, the other from an internet vendor who orders it from the US. The one comes from US has a "Taiwan" marking on it, while the one comes from Solingen has not, all this is concerning local laws and costs to mark the blades and bla-di-bla-di-bla...

PS a bit off topic, I'm planning to purchase a straight razor - so Terry, convince me to buy a Böker instead of a Puma :p
