Where are these made?

I am not sure but their office is about 20 minutes from me. I went there in person to see the knives for myself but I missed the owner.

I am pretty sure they are made in Taiwan or china..at least the early ones were. They have added a lot to their catalogue though since I checked their site last.

Knifecenter lists a lot of them. The don't mention origin on all of them. The ones they do say China.

I missed the owner and the girl at the office said I had to come back when the owner was there to see the knives. i plan on stopping by this week if time allows. If I do I will let you know in this thread. :)

I still think the company isn't on the up and up. Do you think the company that makes ZDP 189 will export this steel to china to have it reverse engineered? How about the US sending S30V to china where it is processed and sold back here for 20 dollars? Do you believe that? I don't. They used to make the claim about BG42 also. I see they dropped that as a steel. Joe

I saw one or two models of their karambits with the same PN, MKxxx, on couple web sites. Made in China

On their FAQ: http://mantisknives.com/Faqs1.html, they don't list 420HC as one of their "frequently used" steels, yet according to what I saw of their products, on Knifecenter and on the web, it appears to be quite "frequently used" by them. In my opinion, something doesn't quite add up.

P.S. Edited to add:

I missed this post at first, but absolutely agree with Joe's logic on this one!

To be fair, many of their knives aren't nearly as pricey as that S30V model, and are more in line with typical Asian prices. However, it seems many companies are very willing to advertise the "Made in USA" angle if they can. If country of origin is curiously absent, then it's probably safe to assume it's not made in the US.

I think the parts are made in China and assembled here but I could be wrong on that one. keepem sharp
