Okay, I'm looking for calipers... caliper?
to measure the tight tolerances of Busse knives, and I would really like it to NOT be a piece of junk, I'd like it to be easy to ready, and preferably electronic, so I can read up to .001 of an inch, without too much trouble.
Ideally, I'd like to spend $50 or less, but I am willing to spend more, if that what it takes. Thanks. I'd like to see if anyone can recommend a good deal one on the internet, or even on eBay, or anywhere else, but once again,
NOT JUNK!
I noticed this one, from my wife's catalog, but since it doesn't have a name brand or anything on it, I'm leary.... If a few people can tell me it's a good one at a good price, I'll buy it, but not until then. Thanks.

Check out any of the ammo reloading supply merchants like MidSouth or Midway. Many reloaders use dial calipers or digital calipers for measuring the loaded cartridges. I have had a Mitutoyo dial caliper for almost 30 years and can recommend them as probably one of the best if not the best in caliper land. In my previous life as a QC engineer almost all of the measuring tools we used were Mitutoyo brand. They are not cheap but they should last almost forever with proper care. I prefer the mechanical dial indicators because I think they are probably less fragile than the electronic ones. Check out the industrial supplier links below.
Like the old saying, "buy quality and only cry once".

Starrett, or Mitutoyo are the only way to go. I would go with the Starrett, MADE IN THE USA (even though some consider the Mitutoyo a little better).

Try MSCdirect.com of mcmaster.com

I have a Mitutoyo digital caliper that is a number of years old. It was expensive but it is an excellent tool- both in English and Metric.

Mine was purchased locally at an industrial supply company. I paid 100 or maybe a little more- but it was well worth the price.

Mitutoyo or Starret. From building engines to anything else I will trust nothing else.
