Does anyone know where I could buy 0-6 steel from. I herd it held a good edge.

I am also looking for S-2 bar stock.

I purchased some O-6 on eBay awhile back. I haven't used any yet, so I can't comment on how good a knife it makes. I see it for sale on eBay pretty regularly, you might pick some up there.

Sorry for the hijack but I'm curious about O-6 myself. Read somewhere that it's a big step up from O-1 but how big is big in this case. Looks to have more carbon but beyond that, I can't really judge.

Thanks...Curt

Don't do it ! O-6 is a graphitic tool steel developed by Timken. That means it's a free machining grade of steel due to the pockets of graphite. While knives have been made with O-6 the graphite also makes it a bit brittle . There are better choices for a knife.I used to work for Timken and there were always those who made knives !

What mete said. I had a chance to buy several hundred pounds of 06 a couple of years ago and looked into it, found out pretty quick that I didn't want it for knife blades.

Heat treated properly, 01 is tough to beat
