Alright guys, I'm pulling my hair out here. Anyone have a good source for 410 grade stainless steel rod 5/16" - 3/8" diameter? I have scoured the web and can't find it anywhere. Jantz has been out of stock it seems like forever. Any leads is much appreciated. Thanks!

I did some more looking and came up empty. McMaster is the smallest diameter I could find. Does it have to be 410 or could you use something else?

Well, I have a ton of 410 pin stock. I was just kind of looking at the "something else" category. So maybe it's worth asking the question. Would the 410 pins blend into 316L? I need the larger round for making rosettes for shadow pattern slip joint knives. Up until now I've been doing them in nickel silver.

I'm confused. Do you have 410 or are you looking for 410? Or do you have small diameter 410 and are looking for bigger diameters?

McMaster carries 316 in 5/16" and 3/8".

Sorry. Yes I have a bunch of 410 weld rod in 3/32" size. So I am looking for the bigger stuff to match up. Since it seems like finding 410 in the larger size is damn near impossible maybe the 316L or something else would work. Bottom line is once you sand and polish everything down you want it all to blend.

Thanks for the recommendation Devin. I called these guys and they have 5/16 but unfortunately it's just not economical to buy from them. They want $60 + for a pound of it or 2'. I think I'm gonna give the 316L a try and see what happens.

** Actually I just found a distributor out of MN that sells 12" rounds of 416 for under 8 bucks a stick. Both 5/16 and 3/8 size.

Midwest steel has 416 in 5/16" and 3/8" for about $13 and $16 per 12 foot stick. Cut up into 12" lengths the 3/8" comes out to $1.85 or about $22 for the 12' total.

I’ve got some 416 in the sizes u want. May have got them from tru grit Ontario.

I appreciate that. I'll just order a couple sticks. They'll last me a long time. Thank you!

12 inch sections are plenty. I don't need 12 feet. Midwest is where I found the 416 cut to requested lengths. $7.88 per 12 inch piece but price goes down the more you order. I'll get 2 in each size for $4.08 a pop.

Done deal! I got 2 feet of each size in 416 headed my way from Midwest Steel for 29 bucks. I wonder why the 410 is so tough to come by? I had the same issue finding 3/32 and 1/16 pin stock until I was turned on to just getting it in 3 foot sections of weld rod form.
