Howdy fellas,

Unfortunately, the base I'm currently stationed on doesn't allow any blades over 3", so where the heck can I find a 3" Hinderer? I've been lusting after an XM-18 for quite some time. I know I can get one direct, but unfortunately my .mil email isn't functional at the moment so I can't verify my active duty status with them. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you are active military, I am sure there are other ways to verify your status with Rob, scan your military ID and send it to him. Actually, just see here:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Direct-Ordering-Program-for-XM-Folding-Knives

And contact Rob via email or PM. 3" XM-18s may be available from RHK pretty soon.

Copy(s) of Orders, I.D., etc. as RDA alluded to.

Advantage(s) of a direct order would be numerous; Pricing, choice of available scale color, New, plus the recognition of getting to avail yourself of an Honor
reserved for those in the service of Our Country.

You're kidding me?! Installation CC policy? What about fixed blades?

AZ, I'm with you buddy, military installation and can not carry a blade over 3 inches, however we can load up a missile with enough payload to turn a desert into a pile of glass!

Meh, nothing new - commanders anymore would prefer to mitigate potential risk to their careers than apply common sense.

For example, ordering unloaded weapons (in a combat zone, in spite of rampant green (Afghans) on blue (coalition) attacks inside the wire) because of concern for AD/NDs.. I guess it was easier to forbid loaded chambers than it was to ensure troops were properly trained. But I'm not bitter.

One of the reasons I got out. Safety of career over preparedness and safety of ones Men under Command - Not for me.
Military changes just like everything else but.... some changes can't be abided.

Production of 3.5" is in March. It will be into the April/May period before 3" production begins (4" in August, or thereabouts). There is no waiting list at the shop, so check with Rob in mid April.
