Hey all you guys--

I was just looking around here, and I was wondering, where can I go to see some of the cheaper models online to perhaps purchase and start to learn the art? What should I look for, and what should I stay away from? Can anyone recommend some good brands?

Thanks-

When it comes to price, no one can beat China or Taiwan. You can get an older style China made knife for about $6. The new improved China knife is $8. The blade and pins are improved, but the handle is still a rather soft metal, fired at under 1000 degrees. For strength & hardness of steel, the Taiwan made knives are the best. They sell for about $12. (every now and then I will sell one that I am over stocked on for $10. Right now, I am over stocked on the green color)

The only problem with them is the pins. They are imported in parts and assembled here in this country using a hollow compression brass pin that at times will fall about the first time you use it. What you need to do, is learn how to replace the pin with a #8 finish nail. It's fast and easy, you just need a good pair of American made vice grips to pull the old pins out. Then cut the nail to size and hammer the end of the pin down. www.BalisongKnife.com Thanks, JohnR7 <img src=http://home.neo.rr.com/johnr7/butterflyb/fi91155.jpg>

and JohnR7 sells them also (the gentleman above).
