Where can I get a custom Kydex Sheath?

I had a good friend turn down my CS Recon Scout, adding a full length wicked sharp "false edge", and removing 3 oz. of steel in the process.

The knife is now loose in it's cheesy nylon sheath, and I'll need a serious Kydex retention sheath for safety.

Who makes um? Custom Kydex sheaths that is?

I only want to hear about sheaths that YOU have personally purchased, and that YOU can personally recommend...please.

Links to the makers, and/or positive feedback on them would be greatly appreciated as well. :)

I have had several custom sheaths done by him. Other sheathmakers have even commented on how first rate Mike's sheaths are.

I have never tried one, but I hear nothing but good about Normark from On Scene Tactical.

BTW, the modified scout sounds cool.

Magician,

After carrying the CS "Recon Scout" as a camp knife for the last 5 or 6 years, I thought it was the "cat's meow", but...

I collect double edge "fighting" knives as a hobby, so...

When Tickblade of Mad Dog Knives stopped by for a visit, and brought with him all those wicked sharp, wicked light, false edged fighters, the light came on...

I asked a good friend here in San Diego to take down the CS/RS by putting a sharpened false edge on it...

The weight reduction made it into a "new" knife... :D

I'm going to try to get CS to offer it as a production version, low cost knives aside, this knife is now truly the "cat's meow!" It's not a MDK by any stretch, but is a low cost alternative...

It's light enough to be a fast "fighter", and yet heavy enough to retain it's usefullness as a "camp" knife...

Steve put a "chopping edge" on the previously flat upper, and a "hair popper" on the clip. It came out very nice indeed!...

All, more sheath info please. I do appreciate your help!

My LVC Sandbar Bowie is with Mike @ River City Sheaths right now for a Southern Comfort sheath :) I think that would just be the ticket for your RS. I was going to have him make one for my RS, but that ol' myfundsarelow monster got in the way ;)
I let you(s) know how I like it, when it returns.

Pics! we need pics of the RS mods!!!

Ebbtide out.

I had two from "Normark" On/Scene tactical made from concealex,I like better than kydex.Good prices/Good quality

I have four of Eric's (Normark's) sheaths. Three are for fixed blades (Busse Natural Outlaw, Basic 5, BM Nimravus), and one is a horizontal folder rig (BM 710). You can see my comments about Eric and his sheaths....well, everywhere (at least any thread I see asking about kydex/concealex or custom sheaths). Eric's sheaths are actually what got me into custom knives, because they made me realize that spending a little money was of small consequence compared to owning a superior product that is made "your way".
Thanks a bunch, Eric, you've cost me a bundle:p

I also have two (had three, but one was traded with the knife) sheaths from Elite Tactical Carry Systems (DDR CF ArcLite, Camillus Talon). These are relatively new, but I am extremely impressed. The retention is incredible, each is perfectly molded to the knife. I have carried the ArcLite 24/7 except the shower since receiving it, and am very pleased with the sheath (knife too, btw:)).
You can see my comments about them here:

Contact info for ETCS can be found at www.darrelralph.com (Bob Bailey is Darrel's stepson).

I have no experience with any other kydex/concealex sheathmakers.

I have four custom sheaths by Mike Sastre and my wife has another. We have sheathes for the Spyderco Mouse, REKAT Sifu, Spyderco Native, Kershaw Boa, and Gerber Legend. All five of them are excellent!

I have also heard nothing but good about On/Scene Tactical's work. I will be sending an order to Normark next week.

Melvin,

Sounds like a great modification to your Recon Scout! CS has always been great bang for the buck. One of my specialties is making Concealex sheaths for concealment and/or quick defensive use, so your project is right up my alley. Contact me and we can see what will work for you.
