Where can i get a Fresnel Lense?

Hi,

I just received a couple of 4" x 6" fresnel lenses in a prtective cover and they were bought at a Barns & Noble Book store for about $2.50 a piece.

They really concentrate the sun, but the weather has been bad for the last 2 weeks so i haven't been able to produce a fire yet as there is no "visible" sun.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

I've found credit card sized versions at WalMart, in the office/school supply section. Other versions were found at
Barnes & Noble and Borders' Bookstores. Some pharmacy's even
carry them near the optical supplies.

Just bought one of the credit card size for my mini-kit. Got it at Barnes and Nobel for a whopping $1.95. Damned clouds. So much for messing around with it to see what it will do.
Curses.

Hey MSU124! Do you go to Michigan State? I have gotten several credit card size fresnel lenses from Meijers. They even come with a little plastic sleeve.

As far as I recall, Edmund Scientific Supply has a pretty good selection of fresnel lenses too.

Try American Science & Surplus

sciplus.com

they have credit card/ book mark sized fresnel lenses for $2 for 4 lenses, and a 7"x10" sheet for $2 as well. Lots of other interesting items for kits - containers, etc.

Large fresnel lenses are in overhead projectors. Any institution (try local schools) that uses a lot of these probably has a repair person who will give you a lens that warped. A warped lens will still work great for concentrating sunshine.
