where can I get a handle for my masting axe head?

This Baker broad axe has an eye 3" long and 1" wide. where can I get a handle for it?

That's a masting axe or ship axe. I've never seen a proper handle offered for sale anywhere. Search masting axes on this site and you'll find some examples of historic handles. You might be able to make one yourself.
 
If I have to make a handle, would ash or hickory be better?
Hickory if you can get it. But white ash, white or red oak would do nicely as well.

Masting axes typically had an upturned handle 20"-28" long.

The upturned handle keeps your hands away from the work so you don't "bark your knuckles".
