I searched but didn't find anything so sorry if this is a repeat thread. Do you guys know where I can get custom micarta scales for they BK2 and BK9? I know they have the tan ones from KABAR but I would like some with more flare if possible.

Oregon Fal'er makes em. There's some other folks, and they're not too hard to do for yourself either. What are you looking for?

not to sound like a mall ninja but some red and black would be awesome...red and black digital camo to enhance my concealment would be even better ;)

I wonder how you'd get digital camo in red and black out of layered micarta. I could see alternating layers of red and black though. Who knows how that would look once the resin hits the fabric. Od green fabric turns blue/gray, Dark brown turns gray/purple. The green and brown did stay green and brown though.

I think to get real red/black you would have to go g10. Although Shadetree (FOD here on bladeforums) makes a couple of camo micartas. You could ask him to make you a red and black micarta though, his stuff is pretty cool

I was just joking about the digital camo. But I would like to find some or get some made in red and black. Might just have to go with the G10 like Jroden5446 said.

There is a red and black double layered g10 with a courser texture to it available ( in between regular g10 and canvas micarta as far as texture). You could buy the slabs and make your own scales.

Or you could make a standard canvas micarta but like Oregon Fal'er stated, the end product can be slightly different than you anticipated. For example, Bondo resin will have a more yellow tint when cured opposed to the Elmers.

I've been using Everfix Marine Epoxy resin, it's a 1 to 1 ratio that gives about 30 min working time and sets up harder than the last resin I used. It also isn't as affected by heat as the last one.

There's red/black linen micarta available. If you cover the cost of materials and shipping, I will make them for you if you can't find someone else. It's fairly expensive stuff though, $10 per scale slab, or $31 for a larger slab before shipping. It's still a fun project to try for yourself though.

I guess i might try making some myself thanks to yalls advice, unless of course i come across some cool slabs. might also look for slabs and shape myself. Thanks guys!

I've read about that one and have been meaning to give it a try. The Bondo is a pain due to the hardener ratio inconsistencies and the Elmers stays tacky way too long without extra hardener but it kills your working time.

I've been too busy/lazy lately to make my own and I really like some of the micarta that's available to pick up currently. Though I do have some cool canvas ready to go when I get the time.

OP.............In addition the the red/black canvas g10 I posted about before, there is a canvas black/red micarta-like (damagrip made for knives and gun handles). It's a random pattern so it might be what you are looking to do. I have not used it but it seems it was made specifically for the knife/gun industry. I always prefer the canvas based micarta over linen due to the texture.

If you know where to pick that type of micarta up, would you mind sending me a PM with that info?
