Hello guys! I am planning to start a small project to kill some weekend time . Does anyone know where I can get a 6.5"~7" long, 1/2" diameter round stock S30V or BG42 rod?
Probably from the people who make those steels. Crucible for the S30V and Timken Latrobe for the BG42. Not sure what you'll find, but if it's available, they'll know.
BG-42 is a bearing steel and might be found in the stock you wish. CPM S30V was developed specifically for the cutlery industry and I will guess maybe a big problem in getting it out of the warehouse in round stock form.
