Where can I get screws for a handle?

Hi guys,

This is my first post in the makers area, so please be gentle. I did do a search, and couldn't find my answer, so hopefully I'm not posting something too terribly redundant.

I had a throwing knife custom made. It is awesome, and it had leather grips held on by simple rivets. Over time, those grips have been beaten up to the point where they need to be replaced.

I'm now in the process of having them replaced with brown linen micarta. This time around, I figure on attaching the grips with screws rather than rivets, so the grips can be easily retightened, or changed out when it's time for new ones again.

Problem is, the guys doing this for me have so far been unable to find screws of the proper size/type. I'd appreciate any advice you guys have about sources to obtain the parts I need.

Ideally, I'd like screws that can be tightened with a phillips or flathead, so they can always be easily adjusted in the field. But at this point, I'll take anything that fits.

Help? :)

Jon

for some nice handle fasteners.... permanant ones you can get from popsknifesuppplies.com they really keep the handles on. you could try texas knife maker supply or koval for other types of fasteners like loveless style
good luck

Have the maker use a Corby rivet, and modify it.Have the maker do it when he fits the handle. If you aren't familiar with them this may not mean much, but the maker of the handles should understand.
Take the Corby rivets and screw them into their seats snugly (they go in a step cut hole).Scribe around them at the handle surface.Remove them and cut them off at the scribe line.Cut a slot in them for the screwdriver, sand the top smooth, and reinsert.Voilà,custom fitted removable (and tightenable) Corby rivets.
