Anyone know where to buy a leather belt used for stropping size 2x72??

Thanks for your help,
Cliff

I got mine from Sheffield's. Just a word of advice. I purchased mine with the intent of honing a razor's edge on my knives. The belt came very tight! Like have to adjust your machine to use it and stretch it out for a while to even get it close to 2X72. When I finally did get it big enough the edges were imperfect and uneven and it had a big lump in the middle where they seemed it. Personally if I had to do it over I would have taken a pass on it. Credit where credit's due. Ann Sheffield told me the belt would be small/tight to start. If you want polished edges that are razor sharp invert an old 400 grit belt and load it up with some green rough and hone away. The cheap knife sharpening systems that go on a grinder do a good job too. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for your help. I will re-think the purchase of a leather belt. I have one for a 1x42 machine but there is no adjustment to compensate when the belt increased in size.

I bought one from Koval several years ago. They told me when I complained about the size that you had to soak it, put it on the machine, and let it dry. It really did become a 2" x 72" belt trying that process, but I have not used it much.

i have not had good results with leather belts either, as mentioned used 400-600 g loaded with green chrome work as well as i have some cork belts that give a even polish/hone you can load these also. i have been using fabulustre compound on them, cant remenber were i got the cork belts though.
