Does anyone know where I can purchase a BK77 Extreme? I know they have not been made in a while but would like to get one.:)

The S30V model made by Camillus?

You might find old stock somewhere, as they were very slow selling due to price. Otherwise, secondary market.

In case you missed it, Camillus went out of business. New Beckers are made by KaBar, I don't know if they have any plans for a similar knife.

1095 Cro Van.

Very similar in composition to the 0170-6C that Camillus used on its standard Beckers.

Hey Sheet Bend....

Very, Very soon the last approx 150 77s will go up on Ka-Bars site for sale....They have the contoured Micarta scales and are Cryo quenched...Am going to do some testing later today..and for some preliminary pics see the "am holding a US made BK13 in my hand" thread on this forum.......

Thanks for your interest and it looks as if your craving came at just the right time!!!!

All Best...

Ethan,
Where do I sign up to have my name on the list to purchase one of these?
A good size 7" utility blade, Becker design, S30V steel, and made in the USA: what more can you ask for. :D

I just ordered one of the special run of BK77 in S30V steel. It may get shipped in a couple of weeks. Now I have to wait:yawn:

If the made the BK5 or BK9 in S30V steel, that would be great. I live by the ocean and do not always oil my blades immediately after using them in salt water.

Are there any plans to made the BK5 or BK9 in S30V?

at a guess, i'd say that fewer and fewer blades will be offered in S30V as supplies dry up[1]. perhaps another material, but probably on new knives... retooling for such a steel might be peculiar, expensive, and well, the economy being what it is... tricky...

[1] being made by Crucible yah? rumor tells they are having, "the issues", and well, ... any Crucible steels might be problematic? mmm.

perhaps they'll do a neck knife in talonite ;)

What Bladite said .

Bladite: A necker in Talonite? Might be a little pricey.

more doable than S30V :)

oh, and yeah, the current BK77s are Camillus made, bought in auction, cleaned, sharpened, the new handles, special markings for 2009/etc... 150 and that's it. done. gone. buy now, or cry later :)

Yeah, the way things are, it probably is more doable than S30V.

Wish I could afford one of those BK-77's: they look really nice. Looks like I'll be crying later.

The blanks were laser cut for Camillus and bought at auction. Everything else has been done by KA-BAR at there factory including heat treat and Cry-o.

ah, well, then :) i guess they COULD handle it, as it were. it's a matter of getting the materials.

I still prefer the original Camillus 77. I just am having a hard time getting behind the Ka-Bar knives after owing most of the Camillus Beckers. I guess I am a sucker for the orignals!! ;)

well, they're still mostly Camillus in the case of the 77. KaBar took them the final distance, and did a lovely heat treat beyond that which Camillus offered. Best of both worlds, really.

Now, the terms "Camillus Beckers" and "Originals" don't jive though. At least with me ;) Becker is the original. Camillus was but a stepping stone. Prior to that, we have Blackjack, and beyond. Where do you draw the line at original?

Being a Becker, is more than good enough :)
