My knife addiction started when I first visited the Knife Shop stores, and I see plenty of good but cheaper knives at Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabela's, etc.

But I've never seen or held a Chris Reeves knife or other higher end knives, ever, in person.

Where can one check out these types of knives? I love my Spydercos and Benchmade knives, but someday maybe I'll be rich enough to afford a Chris Reeves or other higher end knives. But it would be nice to check one out in person if I could...

Jekyll and Hyde Shops in Bar Harbor, ME has some nice high-end pieces. They're only open in the summers, however.

It's very location oriented. Not many chain shops carry high end low production knives. Out here I have Plaza Cutlery in Orange County, CA. truenorthknives.com has a pretty good return/test policy IIRC, albeit they are in Canada so shipping's on the higher end (~$25). The other nice thing is a lot of these Striders/CRK hold their value in resale. If minty fresh you can get full price for them, if used they still retain good value. Best of luck.

you could try one of the passarounds, they have some great knives going around!:) i tried quite a few knives that way. :D

Yeah, I've always wanted to handle a strider, or a ZT or something like that. People say they have amazing lock up.

When I bought my first Sebenza, circa 2001, I called Chris Reeve Knives, and told tem where I was, and they found the nearest dealer... unfortunately, the guy traveled, and only sold at gun/knife shows... I waited a couple weeks to finally check one out at the local monthly gun show..

Seeing and handling one in person, I was 10 times more hooked than the internet could have possibly made me. I went home, grabbed my little 9-shot .22lr Taurus Revolver w/ custom grips, stopped by an ATM, and prepared to sell the .22. I went by the dealers booth, gave him $100, and asked him to hold the sm. reg (before classics) while I set out to sell my little pistol. I sold a $350 pistol for $200. The CRK dealer peered into my wallet as I emptied it out, handed over another $240, and he said... "young man, I can't take ALL your money...gotta leave you with somethin' to get ya home on!" He sold me the Sm. Seb for $300 flat. I was there with two friends who thought I'd lost my freaking mind... One of them now carries a CRK Shadow III as his EDC... and BOY does he put it through its paces!

If you can ever get to the Blade Show in Atlanta then you've got to go. Every major manufacturer is there and there are hundreds of custom makers too. Lots of vendors and every knife you've ever heard of is available there. It's a knife lovers heaven.

I would attest to that....more knives than you can look at in a day, or two, or even three!:D

If you can, go to a show. Even if it is a small local show, more than likely, you will still see a lot of variety from production to high end custom.

Gun/Knive shows is a possibility. Or go on google and look for the nearest knife store. Give them a call and see what they have there, you might be surprised. I've also seen people post saying "I live in X, is there anyone near here who can show me a Y?"
