You know how some handles are wrapped in cord? Or flashlights have holes so you can loop a length of "rope" through them? Where can I get some? I want good quality one, not something from the local fabric store.

I get my paracord from the army/navy surplus by my house. You might want to check the surpluses (sp?) near you to see if they sell paracord.

Good Evening All-

Sygyzy, just visit any store that specializes in rock-climbing, mountaineering, and rappelling. They have gigantic spools of the stuff available on a "per foot" basis. Most stores will melt the ends for you to prevent unravelling.

Typically, you'll have dozens of choices. You can determine which color, diameter, and material is appropriate for your application. Most of my knives use 2mm paracord in bright colors to prevent loss.

Modern paracord even comes with optional reflective strips woven into the rope. This was originally done to prevent tripping over your lines returning to your tent at night with a flashlight! It does a great job as a high-utility lanyard...especially if you're into spelunking or other activities where you could be in low-light environments. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for their help. I am going to order from Happy Camper. They seem the easiest to get a hold of and their price seems reasonable. My tools are going to be very happy.

I'll second Happy Camper. Used them for about 10,000 feet of ParaCord and everything went very well. I delt with John Lacewell and he made sure to keep me informed of my order status the whole time.

I also always try to support a business run by Active and Former Military Members.

From their web site:
"Happy Camper are four active duty Military Members who opened this small Internet business in 1999. So far Business has been great. We continue to add other cool products as we grow. Please check back often..."

Does anyone have any sites that show how to tie the paracord? I want to tie them around my knives and flashlights in the same way that is on my CRKT Urban Shark.

Thanks!

Thanks! That is pretty helpful.

Is there one to tie rope around the handle of a knife?
