where did becker move to

First, welcome to Bladeforums.

Unfortunately, you're about three months too late. BK-7s were going for $50 back then, if you could find them. Now, they're $150 on eBay. Try the Wanted to Buy forum here. Someone may have an extra they'll let go at the older prices.

No one has posted definitively where Ethan Becker is taking his line. There's been speculation about Ontario and Kabar.

thanks
i hope they start making becker knives agian because ive heard many good things about them

What would make a 1095 Becker "Nasty" compared to an 0170-6C Becker?

Frankly, IMHO, that is like asking for a F16 bi-plane!?!

Er...............

Ah, never mind.
Yea right! Excuse me.
Beckers in 1095, NASTY for sure.......

Just shoot me NOW!

At this point, your best bet is to keep an eye on the "for sale" forum, or Ebay.
Expect to pay over $200 on Ebay, a little less in the "for sale" forum.
I think it might be at least a few months before Beckers will be made again, maybe longer.

ROFLMAO.
Don't feel bad Phil.
He is obviously new to Becker & Camillus and must not have spent much time on this forum.

RedEdge77,
Just so you know what we are laughing about........Mr Gibbs worked for Camillus for many years until they closed in February. Camillus made Beckers. Phil has forgotten more about Beckers than most people will ever know.

I just thought you might like to know who you were talking to. :)

Actually, I believe Mr. Gibbs left Camillus quite some time prior to the closing (June '06), and had established himself elsewhere by then. He was, however, a long time employee of nearly twenty seven years, and actively involved in product design and material selection.

Hey Phil! Will you give us the lowdown on your involvement with the development, launch, and expansion of the Becker line of knives? Please? Did you work directly with Ethan? Were many (or any) of the actual designs produced under the branding yours?

Codger

Codger,

I was extremely fortunate to work Directly with Ethan on each & every of the Becker knives made by Camillus. They are solely his creations! He would send me the concept drawings, I would create them in CAD & send him the drawings, he would review. Once satisfied, I would produce samples for him to test. Sometimes further changes or enhancements were made.

I still stay in touch with him, & intend to assist in passing on the line to the next Manufacturer (once the lawyers are done with the BS)

I actually met Ethan at the Blade show many years before he came to Camillus. We have been friends ever since.

He is an extremely nice guy & a true fountain of Knowledge.

Which CAD version do you use? I am an old fashioned AutoCAD guy myself, first on Acad 10, then every subsequent release, some better, some worse.

So you were the prototyper as well? And were in on the production from Ethan's conception of them? No wonder you are so well versed in the Camillus Becker line! I suppose yours are still in boxes? Um... you do have one of each, right? Do you have a favorite in that line?

Codger

Most of the Beckers were done on AutoCAD r14
I am currently using AutoCAD 2006 & Solidworks 2006

Not sure if I have them all, I still have not unpacked all of my knives.

A favorite...... not really. They all have great strengths depending on the job at hand.
