Is Knives Illustrated a quarterly or bimonthly mag? It seems like i have been staring at the same issue on the stands for at least two months now. I don't have that issue in my possession anymore so i cannot look at the cover to check, and the site is under construction. Am i waiting for a quarterly or bi-monthly like a dumb ass, thinking it should be here any time?

The last time I checked their website (about two months ago), it was listed as a bi-monthly. Magazines aren't always logical about that, though - sometimes they take the summers off and double up at other times of the year. I'm not a big KI fan, so I can't say for sure whether that's the case here.

Knives Illustrated is published six times a year. And personally I'm a very big fan of the publication--but I am a bit prejudiced in that decision I'll admit.

One green solution to avoid missing any issues is to subscribe and it will be delivered directly to your door without any gas being spent to run down to the newsstand.

The website for KI is slated for a major redesign before the end of the year. The magazine is now owned by Beckett (the sports card people) and you can check their sports card site out to see what the KI site is expected to encompass--except on the subject of knives of course.

Editor, Knives Illustrated

Hi Bruce.

I've been to your auction site before; didn't realize you were editing the mag too. Didn't you also have some connection with my bud Rhett Stidham back in the day? The name rings a bell.

Thanks so much for the information. I buy all of the Knife mags regularly , with the exception of Tactical Knives( i buy that one based on what is inside a given isssue). At least now i know not to expect something that isn't coming for a while yet. Good to know. Thanks again.

Rhett and I have traded knives since the early 70's. We were part of the ill-fated knifeauctions.net site (along with several others).
Rhett's a friend, and over the years he sent two collections our way for auction--one of the over 1500 handmade knives.

luv the magazine, nice pictures!
request for a specific "tactical what's new" photo spread section (techs 'n specs guide pin-up).
get it whenever i spot a new cover on the stand.
hope to see the next edition soon.

Most newsstand magazines are dated earlier than the actual month because of the tendency of newsstand distributor employees to pull any magazine with the current month cover date. Subscribers get their copies well ahead of the newsstand. So if you are a subscriber to a bi-monthly magazine the September cover date covers July-August on sale, (twice as much newsstand exposure as a month to advertisers for instance). But that magazine will be pulled on Sept. 1 by the newsstand folks.

All this means if you got your magazine yesterday, you were right on time.

Thanks for the request on what you'd like to see in KI. In this editor's opinion squeaky wheels do get grease, although you may want to send to me direct rather than through the forums. All suggestions will be appreciated, read, and listened to. I've long since given up on thinking I was the only person who could come up with a good idea.

Thanks for the info, when I subscribed to KI, I also enjoyed the many reviews of new knives and the wilderness writers, what they use. I only get one magazine now, once a month, since I wanted to scale back on my papers coming to the house.
