I just noticed....Bad enough that my post was deleted but what on earth did a post on a modified Battle Mistress that was posted in the last day or so do to get the deletion treatment. there was not anything at all about the post that could have created controversey. The poster was not whining about the dishonoring of a warranty because of his modifications. Just like customizing a Car or a gun. Is there no free speech with this place anynore. How many other posts have been deleted? why?

let's not jump to conclusions here. Maybe someone put a really bad reply in it that we didn't see that Andy or Jerry got to before us.

If there IS any free speech here, it is a priviledge, not a right to be demanded. The Constitution does not apply to privately owned businesses.

Should not he who owns a forum have the right to do with it as he pleases?

I DO NOT CHOOSE TO BE A COMMON MAN

"It is my right to be uncommon...if I can; I seek opportunity...not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stole calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud, and unafraid; to think and act for myself; enjoy the benefits of my creations and to face the world boldly and say,
This I have done, and this is what it means to be an American."

I am afraid I must go along with tallpaul. If the modification was done on the owners private knife then what is the harm of him showing it. It seems to me that there have been other "modified" Busse knives show on this forum and they have not been "kicked". It would be nice to have some kind of explaination and it is the right of the owner to do what he wants but is this not supposed to be a public forum for all to read?

Paul,

In short, the decision to delete was in serving the best interests of the Busse Combat Customer.

Busse Combat must ALWAYS consider how the posts on its forum serve not only the existing customer who posts here regularly, but also the larger amount of customers that lurk, read, gather information, and file inquiries or orders on the phone based on that information...in other words, how does the information presented here on the Busse Combat Forum affect ALL of its customers.

The number of inquiries which the original post produced virtually overnight, regarding modifications to one's Busse knife and how to do it, was staggering to say the least...

While GRNamin did thoughtfully add his suggestion that no one should try this...it did not matter. It was not the kind of thread that Busse Combat wanted to keep on its forum.

If you have further thinking that you wish to share about this, call me at my toll free number. I tried to call you today, but your phone number was out of service.

I think I have to go with X-Head here. The freedom we have here is a gift. This site could quickly be changed to a strict advertisement forum where the onlooker could only view what the company wants them to see period. I think we get a lot of freedom here and we have a responsability to people like Andy and Jerry not to abuse it. there was probably nothing at all wrong with that post, but I'd hate to get 700 emails about it afterward that I had to reply to as a matter of good customer service. Perhaps an alteration forum would be in order. A place where busse knife owners and all other knife owners for that matter could show off their additions to others designs. I'd take a look at it often. I altered my Busse knives but I won't show them until I have permition from Andy to do so cause I don't want to give him a headache over it. the point is, this is a private place and you say what you want but if you get out of line be prepared to be dealt with. I agree with Busse Combat and Sharper Instincts decision to do what they did. Not because I think it was right or wrong. But simply because like I said before... this is their house and they don;t like that picture on their wall.

Thanks for your comments here Ryu....let me add that without those who come to this forum, the house would be empty. It is best lived in and enjoyed when it is full.

The only difficulty at times is that we can't please all the people, all of the time. We do our best to please most, and I think a fair job of it.
