Please Help, I am looking for a manufacturer to purchase cowhide leather for making knife sheaths. Also not sure what to ask for, i.e. leather weight.

I get mine from a saddle making store in my home town. They have two or three whole bins of nothing but scraps. All different thicknesses and types from suede to raw hide. I usually get all I need for knife sheaths once a year for about $20. If there is a saddle shop near by stop in and get to know the guys running the place. Rodeo is big here in Oklahoma so we have more than one guy around here that makes saddles and rodeo stuff.
