Where do you buy a leather strop?

Well - I sell them at the knife shows I attend for $10.00 each. I use 10 oz. leather backed by a hardwood (poplar) board 16" x 1.5" x .5", so with a 4" handle, you get about a 12" strop.

They are easy to make, or easy to buy.

Take care,
Bob

To make a leather strop rub jeweler's rouge into a piece of leather. Can usually purchase a strop at any store selling straight razors.

Another method used to strop a knife in the 50's was to strop it on the top of your leather boot (the part over your calf). But back then boots were made out of real leather and had many coats of hand rubbed paste wax polish embedded into the leather. Made a great strop.
