Where do you find custom slipjoint?

I look through makers & exchange here, missed a couple I liked. I have a real urge to pick up a small classic for everyday use. So, where do you look? Other forums, specific makers site (recommendations please) brokers, which ones? Shows, again, any recommendations?
Thanks
David

Rusty, not wishing to offend so take this for what it is, just a statement not an indictment. I have contacted a few, only one responded. Again, not an indictment, and not exclusive to this board. I have been trying to get a very well know arms dealer to answer an email about a shotgun he has listed with no success.

I am just looking for alternative places to see well built slipjoints

Many of us make slipjoints, Rusty included. The trouble is you sound like you want one right now. Most all of us have a list of people and no inventory.

That helps. So do I get on a notification list, or spec one out and order it? I guess I would like to have one now, but I understand waiting for what you want as well.

:D:DIt's hard for me to imagine not finding a knife in Kentucky:D:D Seriously, hang around a bit and you'll find what you want or someone willing to make it.

You should get on a list or two of makers that you like their work and meanwhile buy a couple that are available. Keep your eyes open over on the makers folding knives for sale threads here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=753
Keep your trigger finger ready, the last one by Dowell went in 34 minutes for only $265

No offense taken, But many do this as a hobby or side job and have lives to live outside of knife making. Give them a call or send an email and show your interest. You can try to catch one on the forum when they sell and send a pm if it's one you like to see if they may make one for you. There are some great Slipjoint makers here. T.A.Davison, Ken Coats, Ken Erickson, Rick Menefee, Bruce Bump all excellent and well known makers each with their own style. Many take orders while some do not. But don't get discouraged keep trying. I for one hope you find that one knife you cant live with out.
Good luck
Rusty

Spoke with John Howser this morning, I will go see him soon. Interesting man, good suggestions. Got on a couple of lists, enjoying the hunt. Looks like I need more than 1 new small knife.
Oh, and 2 since April, thats just fixed blades & just from this forum. Thank goodness no one is posting customs sgians. Burns dinner right around the corner and I haven't bought one in over a year
Thanks
David
