At the cost of giving shameless advertising to knife dealers everywhere (hey a lot of them deserve it, right?), where have you bought your knives, and why? My dad always said people either buy price, quality or service, depending what is important to them. So who's cheap, damn good, or damn nice? None of these qualities are bad, obviously.

I haven't bought enough to determine cheap, my buying habits are kind of sporadic. Quality, obviously, is the manufacturer's business, and I've only bought high end quality in Microtech so far. But for dealers, I've dealt with Josh @ www.pvknife.com, Jeff @ www.confederatecutlery.com, and have gotten a lot of good information from www.rayjayknives.com, and Patrick @ www.tripleaughtdesign.com. My next 2 purchases will come from the last 2 respectively.

This is not intended for people to flame dealers about high-pricing, by the way. I believe this country's free enterprise system should allow the merchants to choose their own price, as long as they aren't involved in price fixing or have a monopoly. It is the buyer's duty to do their homework. Caveat Emptor, eh?

Ok, I like Larry Connelly's fine taste in custom knives at www.KnifeArt.com, Les Robertson's somewhat more tactical custom selections at www.robertsoncustomsutlery.com, Nordic knives at www.nordicknives.com, and Arizona custom knives at www.arizonacustomknives.com. For production knives I've used and received great service from www.knifecenter.com. And I'll plug James Mattis' Chai Cutlery as well, www.chaicutlery.com, because I like his web site and the things he says here at BladeForums.

well.. I guess the couple hundred bucks I sent to pvknife, chaicutlery, northwest and others was small change.. more spent at 888knivesrus; but tripleaught, discountknives and abc-direct all have done some serious damage. Of these, only Danny at 888knivesrus has a "comma" in my total purchases with him. But I have bought several ouch thousand dollars worth of knives from bladeforum members and been happy with all but one. At least three individuals have a comma in my total purchases with them... you know who you are! Oh yeah, I have over a thousand in to Busse (Hey, I have bought 5 Battle Mistresses, three Badgers and still have 2 of each..)

And of course, Ralph Turnbull himself is the source of the ultimate drain on the pocketbook! When you give up on the production models and go for the customs...watch out!

I've gotten great service and selection from Larry at KnifeArt and Howard at The Knife Center. Patrick at Triple Aught has always been very responsive and helpful as well. I also like to go directly to the source, Anne at Chris Reeve Knives is a terrific person to deal with, and I always enjoy interacting with Lynn at Griffith Knives. He has also done a nice job in getting his Griffith Knives Forum going lately, it is really coming together, as is the site that Larry has put together for the KnifeArt Forum.

Since I am an "immediate gratification" kind of guy, (when it comes to knives), I prefer to have my knife right then and there. No mail order, please! I like to look at, inspect, hold and handle the knife I'm going to buy before setting down the chunk-o-change. For this reason, I go to Frank Ruff at Ruff's Saddle Shop and Knife Sales. He always gets what's new and hot long before I read about it in the knife rags. The only place I've found that has a better heads up on what's new and hot is right here on BladeForums.com. Thank You, Mike and Spark!

Ruff's Saddle Shop and Knife Sales has a catalog with prices and they can be reached at 1-352-669-3143 or fax at 1-352-669-2119. Catalogs are free, I believe, and the address is:

Only made a few purchases so far.

1st one was from the BF store on a Busse #9.

2nd was from Gurkha House Forum, a custom WWIII and it's still on order awating the handle. So far Craig has been wonderful to deal with. Without a doubt I'll be back for more from Craig.

3nd was from James Mattis of http://www.chaicutlery.com/ and he is excellent. I'll go to him first anytime in the future when in the market for production knives.

4th I've purchased 2 knives and a custom kydex sheath for a AG Russell Sting so far from Newt Livesay http://members.tripod.com/~Newt_Livesay/index.html Newt has a form also at http://server3.ezboard.com/blivesayknives These knives are solid working knives at a unbleavible price with a truly remarkable custom handle.

I used to deal w/ Pioneer Valley Knife and Tool, back when they had a storefront. Since then I've done business with A.G. Russell, who screwed up my order, and James Mattis, at Chai Cutlery, who didn't.

i think that my favorite is probably www.knifeoutlet.com they have great prices.
the best people to work with are the people at Greco knives...i wish they had a web site

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold the great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads...And His tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Usually I order from Top of Texas Knives because with my experience they have the cheapest prices, but when they don't have the knife I'm looking for I'll order from the Knifecenter or America's Best Cutlery Direct.

I usually go for low prices. I've had good prices and service from Blowoutknives, Cumberlandknives, and knifeworks (Bayou LaFourche knife works). I've gotten some hard to find items from AG Russell, though the prices pained me.

I buy almost evrything from Grand Prairie knives in Troy, Illinois. They are the cheapest consistently I have ever seen. They are also only about 10 miles from my home. i think their website is www.gpknives.com.
