I've been checking a few sites for good box elder, buckeye, and maple burl and I've found some nice ones but I found TONS of amazingly colored blocks and scale sets for what I thought were good prices on the 'bay. So I'm wondering if you would share your source cuz EVERY handle you make it awesome for lack of a better word. Now I'm not a maker who would be competition, I've never made a knife in my life but I want to re-handle a few of mine and I want to make sure I get the best and funkiest colored wood I can. :D If you do want to keep it a secret that's cool too. I wouldn't be surprised if you bought from ebay too, lol. Thanks

I figured you were asking Bill since he buys the nice burls but Ill chime in. If you are going to use burl it needs to be stabilized, period. Its way too soft in most cases to make a good handle if its not. There are some good places on ebay, although there are alot of bad too. The stabilization is key, alot of people do their own so you don't really know what you are getting. There is a place on Ebay that sells really nice Box Elder stabilized but I don't remember the name. Its good stuff. Mark over at Burl Source is another outstanding seller that uses K&G for his. Another option is to just find a nice set and send it out yourself to K&G to stabilize. Their prices are reasonable too. I would suggest ordering a block if you are going to get it stabilized yourself, scales if its already stabilized.

This guy has some amazing stuff, but you have to keep checking back because he only has it so often. It may be the same guy Chris is talkin' about because he has pretty good reputation among knifemakers.

When you say burl source is it bad dogs burl source or just burl source? Cuz I got a block from bad dogs burl source but I wasn't too happy with the block in comparison to the photo of the block. But the guy I dealt with there was named Rob. I just got some stabilized scales from ebay from a seller called Logs2Lumber and I might get some from Staburl who had great pieces and has a good reputation. I appreciate all the help guys.

Chris is referring to just "Burl Source"; has some really nice, solid stuff. And shows detailed pictures of both sides of the wood which is nice as well. Great to deal with...

Burl source, and ebay, but i get alot of first dibs on stuff before the reveal to the public
