Where Do You Guys Hunt Your Busse/kin Sheaths Down?

Just wondering where you all hunt your sheaths down at?

I got onto this subject as I'm looking for a leather sheath for a Busse Battle Grade ASH, or maybe just a nice thin kydex Liner for a spec ops sheath.

It seems like once in awhile they pop up here in the sales forum, but where else do you look? Do you go straight to the source? It seems like going to the source can be hit and miss, as I've waited for years at a time sometimes for preferred leather workers (not knocking them, we are all busy, and it's not like anyone forced me to wait, we do it because we prefer their work). But sometimes you would just like to get some pants on your blade and don't want to wait lol.

So just wondering where you guys search, or if you prefer to send in your Busse/ kin to a certain leather worker and just wait it out, and if that's the case, what leather workers do you prefer?

I have Condos Leather, Rainwalker, and Chuddy Bear Sheaths. Theyre all Bombproof, just little different in their own way.

Heres examples top to bottom.
1. Condos Leather
2. Rainwalker
3. Chuddy Bear

Very simple, for leather I like Pirtlemade, and for Kydex I like Eric at Mashed Cat!!

Thanks guys!

MtnMan, those are all awesome! I love that TGLB sheath.

TommyGun, I've never gone through Pirtlemade. Do you send in your blade to them, and if so what's the turn around time, or do they offer "pre-made" sheaths for sale?

I have Buy Brown kydex and Patriot Leather leather (sounds funny, doesn't it?). Can't recommend either of them enough.

Here is chad's e-mail site-He is able to do pre-made sheaths on many models-With Mashed Cat you will probably have to send your knife to Eric, but his sheaths are FANTASTIC!-Good luck

Here are some pictures of sheaths Eric has done for me recently

I'll second Chad's work. Top notch and you can't find a better guy to work with. He puts a lot of time and effort into making sure you get exactly what you're looking for.

For kydex, I use Al Welke. Again, great guy who does great work.

I generally just walk around holding them in my hand in modeling them and don't really have a need for many with sheaths.....;)

+1 for mashcat, I have one for my carothers FK and it is literally the best sheath i have ever experienced.

Thanks for the plugs guys, really appreciated!

I have a list of all Busse/Kin knives on hand HERE. It's really the only place on my site I have had time to keep up to date. Last count I was up to 97 models and have been eyeballing the Milwaukee rolling tool chest I bought a few months ago to store them in for mods to fit more. Since I wet mold almost every sheath I make I need the real things and can't work off patterns, similar to the Kydex guys, also helps since Hybrid's are on the horizon.

For Kydex Al Welke is great to work with and I have been real impressed with the Mashed Cat's I've owned.

Pretty hard to go wrong with of the craftsmen recommended on this forum, leather or Kydex. Just like custom knives everyone has a "signature style".

Dwayne Puckett (BF user name "leatherman") does some really nice work on leather sheaths. He has a forum here called "Armoralleather", and his web site is www.armoralleather.com. I bought a Busse knife on eBay years ago mainly because the custom Armoralleather sheath looked so amazing (the knife was nice too, but the sheath was a work of art). Check out his sheaths, he has some nice stuff!

I really like Chuddy Bear leather but I don't think you will be able to contact him. I get most of my leather from Armoralleather. I make most of my own Kydex these days but for Kydex David Brown can't be beat.

Do some searching through the forums for pictures. There are so many extremely talented Craftsmen (CraftsPeople?) that make exceptional products I'd hate to recommend anyone as I might slight the others. Well worth the wait, and they are great people to work with. Amazing Talent!
