Where do you put all of your knives?

It's pretty obvious that most of us here have pretty substantial knife collections that we add on to as often as we can. Where on the earth do you keep all of them? Safes, open display, rolls, boxes? I personally have a multilevel handmade wooden box for all of my EDC knives, a slotted frame for 20 or so of my smaller slippies, a roll and a felt lined box for the rest. Large fixed blades live in the bottom of my dresser. I'm in desperate need of a good safe:D.

So how about you, do you display your knives, lock them up or what?

Ones that get carried frequently live in a Stein on my desk. Some live in sheathes next to the stein. Less frequently used knives live in shoe boxes, but even they get used from time to time.

Right now I keep each knife in it's own knife pouch. Of course my collection is not very large as I had determined some time ago to only buy knives I will actually carry. To that point I only have 10 folders, of which 3 are slipjoints and the others are of a tactical style. If I do continue to pick up some more, if..LOL, I will purchase a knife bag to begin storing them in. I also find myself collecting flashlights and will probably store them in it also.

i have about 300+ knives, mostly folders. i keep them in knife rolls organized: Schrade; Case; Queen; Germany: British; etc. knife rolls (all knives except ones in active use) are kept in a Liberty Lincoln 25 gun safe. it is fireproof and at 720 lbs, not easily stolen. it's hi gloss finish is very attractive and it fits right in, in a corner of my living room against the log walls. the fireproof fit of the door also helps prevent moisture fluctuations. although not cheap (i paid about $3000cdn. about 15 years ago), i highly recommend this method for the peace of mind it brings whether you are at home or not. roland

i to have over 300 knifes, only about 50 fixed blade knives and they ar all in a safe with my crazy crawler fish collection.
it would take tow truck to get it out.
they a vet to get the dogs out of there a**

In a 15 gun safe, screwed to wall AND to the concrete floor. Organized in large clear plastic tackle box trays. Labels on lid over knives for ID. High quality paper cut to fit slot under knives, Info. can be printed in pencil if needed. DON"T USE LATEX SELF LINER FOR CUSHION, IT WILL LEAVE RESIDUE ON SOME SCALES. Each tray will hold 20 large or 50 small slippies......Some out, displayed in old store display from my favorite maker. 300Bucks.

They are in MY media room, separate alarm system, locked from grandkids and others, but if I want some man time, I have my own retreat.

Man, that's my dream. No extra rooms right now with the little ones, but a man room is definitely on my wishlist for the future. Until then all of my pics, mounts, knives and guns are hidden away.

James, that is a super fine display. do you have glass doors to help keep dust off them? i hate dusting. roland

An old wooden cigar box with brass latch and hinges. I gave it a coat of varnish and made it a knife box.

Thank You, I appreciate the kind comments, I do have one piece of 1/4" glass that will cover it all, but I keep moving them around and the glass weighs a bunch. So, I just keep it open, the room is fairly well sealed and have not had to dust or clean in the past year.
My friends call me Jim,
I hope you will too.

All my Case knives are in a roll, fixed blades in a vintage toolbox , I have an old wooden silverware chest which houses the rest. I probably have a few knives which are being well kept at Realstagmans house , they just haven't made it to my collection yet.

i don't have enough knives to cause a storage problem yet. all of my knives are users though, so they don't get any really special treatment. the few off-duty or spares are scattered on my workbench or my desk.

It's getting difficult.....
Old Compositor's box for type is now full up, three drawers
A load lurk on my study desk waiting for tasks
The wardrobe has a couple of knife rolls, good protection whilst in store and for moving em
I need MORE space!

I just chuck them all into a cardboard box and kick it into a corner.  :D Actually, I'd probably just break my foot if I tried that. At the moment, I have them in several medium size plastic storage boxes, all neatly individually wrapped in Viva paper towels (after giving them a mineral oil bath and/or oiling them), and separated into about 10 or so knives per labeled gallon freezer bag (which I squeeze the air out of as I zip them up - so my knives are sorta vacuum sealed). I don't really want to do it like this for long, but it works fine shorter term (though I don't do it with my celluloid handle knives). I plan to do a major reduction in my collection in the new year, so for right now, I don't want to buy a bunch of permanent/semipermanent storage I may not need, depending.
