Well with the temp. outside rising, I find myself craving the outdoors. I have a lot of wooded area to hike around my house but being in Northwest Ohio leaves me wanting a challenge. Believe me it is flat here. If you took the trees away, I could easily see the nearest town. Which happens to be around 10 miles away. I am going to take a vacation soon and need some advice on places to go. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Pics are always welcome. Thanks in advance.

Mena, Arkansas in the Ouachita Mountains is my hiking, four wheelin', camping getaway. beautiful scenery and plenty of bushcraft challenges to test yourself with. I have a atving trip there coming up in April and i will post some pics when i get back. Little far from Ohio though.

I have never been to Arkansas. Can't wait to see the pics.
Arkansas is not that far. What are some of the challenges that you will be up against. Animals, rough terrain, etc...

I know what you mean, having lived in Toledo for many years. If you head east toward Maumee Bay State Park, there is some nice hiking through the woods. Pretty, but not a lot of elevation change. Way up north at the Bear Dunes there are some nice rolling hills. If you dont mind the drive, I would suggest heading down to Mammoth Cave. There is a ton of stuff to do down there.
There are some amazing parks in the Cincinnati Metro area. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advise. I haven't been to Mammoth Cave since I was a kid. What area around Cinci. I have family on the North side. May have to visit them and see what they have.
I have a hard time being a Deer hunter walking around Maumee Bay. Something about having the Deer walk 20 yrds in front of me gets me thinking of Testing my knife skills. ;)

There are a couple trails in North Cincinnati. Most are OK. You'll begin to see more elevation changes as you move toward south east Cincinnati. The website www.trails.com has some reviews and pictures that you might enjoy.

my favorite place to go is the Smoky Mountains in east TN. Beautiful mountains and streams, and touristy stuff half an hour away to keep the rest of the family from getting bored once they've had enough. and the caverns are AWESOME, the Lost Sea and Tuckalechee(sp?) caverns are both well worth stopping at.

Oregon and Washington. Pick a place on the map somewhere within there borders and you'll find something. :D

My favorites are the coast and the cascades.

I have family that lives very close to that area. I love it there and have spent a lot of time there. Ofcoarse, they call those rolling hills. I call them MOUNTAINS. LOL

I have actually thought a lot about heading out there for some hiking. From the pictures I have seen it is beautiful.
