I have a WHOLE BUNCH of these, inherited.
I don't know which are machete or parang or kukri...or something else...
How to tell what it is? (basic category)
How to get an idea of origin?
How to know what it's made of (handle and blade)?
Etc.
HELP!
Here is example one, and you'll see why I'm stumped.

Eventually, I hope to sell them, but I'm not trying to do that here.
I'm just trying to find out what they are exactly, where they are from, what they are made of, etc.
Thank you!

In the pictures i can see what looks to be a pattern welded parang with a nicely carved handle.

How are you stumped? The photos contain a lot of information. The photos say it is a 24” parang. IIf you google “parang” you will get a lot of photos of knives that look like yours. I would be prepared to go out on a limb and say it is a parang, and 24” looks about right.

The blade looks like damascus steel, just as it is listed. The quality from here looks pretty good, but you can’t rule out that it might be a cheap tourist knife. Between the info with the photos and Google/Wikipedia, you can find out a lot in a very short time.

The provenance and value may take a little more investigation.

With a gold membership you can get values and sell them here. What a better place than a knife forum.
