Hey guys,

There is a purpose for flea markets and knife buying (not the mall ninja variety).
It seems that every flea maket I go to I find used slipjoints and SAKs for great
prices. Bought a couple of saks this weekend for 2 bucks a piece, that right 2 bucks each. I gave the guy a fiver and said keep the change after aquiring my 2 new gems. One of them was a sak spartan mint, it sells for 30 dollars Canadian here.
Can't complain about that. Pawn shops, fleamarkets, good buys are out there.

Pawn shops are good here, when they have a knife, and near military bases I've picked up some decent deals. Flea markets can be OK when a shorttime renter comes to dispose of extras, estate items, or is trying to get into the scene and really wants to turnover for cash.

Long time fleamarket renters ( I've seen some in the same place for a decade ) tend to price high - above MSRP - for used. One locally gets a lot of Mtech and such, he'll have something interesting every now and then, but I've lost interest in that stuff.

My best SAK place to buy is a local sporting goods seconds reseller - they handle Academy's returns - and picked up a black handle Champion for $12.

The sheath cost me more.

I've found all kinds of gems at flea markets. The thing is, either the dealer thinks he has gold and wants the world for it, or he has no idea what he is selling, and you are walking away with the gold.

I think I did alright at a gun show table this weekend (really, not all that different) I picked up a .22 rifle for $30, an old Mora with an insanely upswept blade for $20, and an mint Morseth blade for $40.

Made me happy anyways!:D

Congrats on your find!

Yes, fleemarkets are amazing for finding old slipjoints. Ive got 3 little gems so far. One of them is a SAK Princess model, which is discontinued and very rare. Cost me 5$. Excellent deal.

I don't understand why, but pawn shop clerks here say they are not allowed to sell knives except for Fantasy crap, and the flea market only keeps chinese/pakistanese cheapies.

I'm jaleous.

The only local flea market has a knife shop in it. Not too bad depending on what you're looking for. Lot of current folders at retail and a lot of "fantasy" crap. Not too much from individual vendors.

But a couple years back a buddy who owned a surplus store was cruising the aisles and found a box of surplus stuff. How much? $10 the owner says. Buddy goes home to see exactly what he got and finds a Glock 9mm frame. We ran the serial numbers and it came up clean so he kept. So I guess he got a deal!

Just keep looking, you'll occasionally find some great stuff.

(I have gotten a couple of old Eye Brand and Colonial pre 58 switchblades on the cheap here and there)

Look on the bright side - prohibiting the city pawn stores from selling knives makes it less likely that you'll have yours stolen.

You all are lucky - after hearing about all these good pawn shop deals I went around to a few local places. The best deal I found was a Buck 119 for the princely sum of $85 :barf:
