Where have all the sharpened clip points gone? (i.e. Laredo by CS)

I need a large bowie with a clip point to back-cut and spear open a boar or intruder with ease. Now I have read about this Laredo Bowie from Cold Steel, and, honestly, the opinions jump both sides. So do I have this right...

...the Carbon V blades of a couple years back to late last year are Chinese made and generally horrible with unsharpened clip points, irregular quality of workmanship, and overly prevalent rust (you know, more than usual for a high carbon. I know they rust if not upkept.).

...the new SK-5 Laredos are of better workmanship and DO actually have that desired blade grind that I want. They are pieced together better and they are generally back up to par with CS repute, who I respect thus far.

Just wondering on the specifics if I am to invest around $130 of my own pocket change. Keep in mind I want a beater and bruiser.

Then again, I have heard some crap that this technique of sharpening the clip point is illegal. True?

All CARBON V BLADES WERE MADE BY CAMILLUS In new york. All sk-5 blades are made in china. My experience with the china blades has been positive, of course the steel is not as good as carbon v when it comes to edge holding but it is hardly noticeable and the knives are quite a bit cheaper than the new york knives. And yes some state and local laws prohibit the carrying of blades with back edges.

Welcome to the forums.

There are many knives that you can use. A search for "boar hunting" will bring up many threads. Look in the custom makers forums, I think there are several that make boar hunting knives. If you like CS products check out their OSS subhilt, it is sharpened on both sides. It is not illegal to sharpen on both sides, but it may be illegal to carry in many areas. A two sided blade is considered a dagger in most jurisdictions and not usually legal for personal carry.
