simple question, not so simple answer... for folks that don't live in a forest. pictures of yours would be nice. this is a real inquiry.

Any cold steel or slide on type hawk handle. Also if it is/has to be fitted so that once it's on, it stay on & not removable, is certainly acceptable.

Would be nice if responses are 'I did it this way, and it worked/didn't work'. Suggestions welcome of course.

If it's been asked-solved before, please point me to the site or threads. because I think a lot of others might also be interested.

thanks.

Hardware store is a good source of wood handles (or fiberglass/plastic if that's what you're into). Measuring tape and some sort of inside/outside caliper and a hacksaw, wood rasp and file are going to be on your 'to buy' list. Fitting a handle is not rocket science, but does take time and effort and considerable thought. If through some fluke you have access to a wood lathe that would really speed things up. Reverse taper on the haft so that the head seats nicely is the 'biggie'.
