Hey all, it’s been some time since I’ve frequented this sub. I was looking recently and see the HeavyHanded hasn’t posted in some time. He was one of the top contributors for years, always predictably measured with his posts and responses and a wealth of information.
I hope all is well with him and if anyone has information in that regard please do let us know.

+1...

I've wondered the same.

Also noticed long time contributor Jason B. hasn't posted in a long time - I think both of them haven't posted in well over a year now (or 2-3 years?). Up 'til then, both of them were contributing regularly. I learned a lot from both of them over the many years I've been hanging around.

Yes, Jason B and I came around about the same time, at the height of S30V right before it became S 35VN. I know he’s younger and he had other things going on outside of the Forum too so I’m gonna assume he’s OK , but I just don’t know about HeavyHanded. But yes, I hope they are both alive and doing well.
And, I would be remiss If I didn’t add, you are also a top contributor to this forum and very much appreciated by many here, sir and I’m glad to see that you are still here.

Why not send them a DM as they would get an email notice about it. If they are still around they would respond to you.

HeavyHanded hasn't been on in over three years.
Hello, Blues
Can you believe it’ll be 30 years in less than a minute. Isn’t it funny how you randomly join a forum one day, maybe looking for a little bit of information or to reach out to people with a mutual interest only to find yourself ‘still hovering overhead’ 30 years later?
Before this place gets gobbled up by the next instant gratification application, I think it would be really cool if someone with the Birdseye view would write a book about it. I can’t even begin to imagine where warm would start, but it could be really interesting to say the least.

Jason B. Jason B. unfortunately hasn’t posted since October 2022 and last login was August 2024.

Here are the links to a three part video for those interested in him sharpening a BK 9 that I sent him 13 years ago… where does the time go.

Thank You. I keep learning new things here and will likely keep active here as long as I'm able. This is my daily morning stop when I'm sipping coffee first thing every day.

I subscribed to Jason's channel some time ago, as his freehand expertise was the one I most hoped to emulate someday. Still working on that...

Jason and I corresponded via DM for a while on sharpening matters. I always enjoyed his input. Wish he were still around these parts, along with HeavyHanded.
I've also been missing the input here from David Martin (R.I.P.). I've become fond of Norton's oil stones for most of my sharpening needs, and all three of them influenced that to a great deal.

I haven't used my old Norton India and Crystolon oil stones in some time...but they are safely ensconced downstairs in the workshop area.
