Where is Texas Jack?

Case is out of them. Big River is out, as are online dealers. What happened? Did TJs get discontinued?

It looks like they are discontinued. I just saw some in my local Cabelas if you have one near you.

Plenty on the big auction site just search 'Case 6292'.

I don’t think they are permanently discontinued maybe just not a pattern they run very often. They switched patterns I learned in the late 70’s on the medium Texas Jack from 6232 to to 62032. The latter being made in an Amber bone run maybe as recent as 5 years ago or so. Plenty to be found on the auction site as mentioned. If you want the big Texas jack then you’ll be looking for something vintage in the 92 frame.

The Texas Jacks would be good candidates for one of the new blade steels. Either S35VN or CPM20CV would be fine. Red jigged bone please.

This is why, when you find a pattern you really like, it never hurts to have one or two spares. Never thought I'd see this one discontinued completely but the 62032 pattern has had fewer and fewer handle options over the years, so that is generally a good sign that it is being phased out.

If the Texas Jack is an ex-production knife, I suggest you look in Tennessee.
