Hi all, been workin with 1084, have been trying to find some .187x1.5 but can't seem to find any, where should I look ( NJ baron is out )...or is there another steel that will work similar to 1084...I harden with an oven FYI....thanks...

Aldo's current batch of 1075 is great. Will produce a very nice hamon also.

Or if you're already quenching in Parks 50; 1095, or W2 if you can find a stash. Otherwise, maybe 80CRV or O1.

If your willing to go just a tad smaller he has .156 in stock as of this posting. Also 1080 and 1075 are very similar.

Thanks for the reply's....I really wont to stay with.187, I might go with some 01, I have worked with it before and seemed to get good results....Admiral has some HR1075/1080, not sure what the HR is....??

Hot Rolled means it came straight off of the hot mill (it was processed red hot), it has a black "mill scale" on it, it runs slightly to the plus side of the nominal dimensions, it doesn't have square edges . No other down stream work is done, i.e. cold rolling, tempering, straightening ect.
