I have my fair share of knives, and probably have or had atleast one of every knife that i have personally wanted.....that is except for the ever elusive dodo, I know there have been mentions of its resurrection every once in a while, but does anyone have a clue if it will be back?

There has been talks of a Dodo sprint, possibly with orange G10. I, personally, wouldn't like orange G10.

I never could understand why they deleted the Dodo from the line up in the first place. To me it was Eric Glesser's best unique but useful design. I use my blue PE Dodo every now and then and I have good luck with it. I even EDCed one for about a month and the only complaint I had with it is that I truly do need a longer blade for many of my cutting chores.

I don't know of too many past/deleted models with the huge demand that the Dodo has. It seems like it's gained in popularity over the past few years. I don't think it's just collector appeal either because I do know a few folks who actually use the one they have ( just like your's truly).

I would love to see it return with one of Crucibles great steels like D-2, M-4 or S90V. To me it's one of the most useful short bladed knives Spyderco ever made. When it was on the main line up I never seen anyone have any trouble selling them or trading them. I sure wish I hadn't traded the other 3 of them that I had. I personally love the blue handle because it's sheeple friendly and it's a very practical cutting tool when you learn all of it's uses. It kind of borderlines on being a Hawkbill. I don't consider it a true-blue Hawkbill but I guess it could fall under that definition.

I love many of Spyderco's past models more than I do some of their new ones. And yes I do want the Dodo to return.

I'd like to see the Dodo return in bright orange or even yellow G-10; something that gives the impression of a common utility knife like you see on employees' belts at Walmart. An update on the lock would be great too. Caged ball lock, or Blackie Collins bolt action for example. I didn't much care for the regular ball lock.

I would be open for a new/different locking system>> albeit I personally had good luck with the original ball bearing lock that the original Dodo had. I do want a Crucible Super steel i.e. S90V, CPM D-2, CPM M-4 or something comparable. I do want it to be a Golden CO USA Earth knife like the original. Yeah I like the idea of bright orange, G-10 handle but yellow should be reserved for the Salt Series as it has become sort of a trademark for the H-1 blades.

I do hope they make it availabe in SE & PE both as the original was. The original Spyderedge Dodo was a beast of a blade. And I would like a different pocket clip as well. The original wire clip was OK I guess but I would prefer something like the spoon clip that the Gunting had or something new in that line. Yeah the Dodo was a winner and I have no doubt that it would be again. We now have a lot of new Spyderheads that are longing for some of the older models and the Dodo is certain one of them. The Dodo is such a unique Hawkbill that it's really in a sector all it's own. I deserves another stint in the main line up.

That was one on the best big small knives I owned. I regret ever selling it.
