I get a lot of joy and pleasure throwing hawks .I want to have four matched hawks that have a good look, medium weight, excellent sticking ablility and fine balance in the hand. I enjoy the forged , historical reproduction frontier type. Any suggestions who makes them and where to get get them ?

I am new to throwing hawks. These aren't forged, but, I think, meet the rest of your criteria. Plus this guy is great, his shipping is cheap and fast, and he's got lots of other cool stuff to check out too. His name is Ragnar. I've bought lots of knives and kits from him.

H.B. Forge makes awesome throwing hawks. They have a website if you search. They have made them since the 60's. Rough, frontier looking hawks. Tough and high carbon bits.

I'd have to suggest H&B. I have three of their hawks. I'm particularly fond of the Shawnee hawk for throwing but I have shoulder problems and throwing it for an extended period can be a bit hard on me. My favorite throwing hawk recently, has been the large camp hawk from Fort Turner. It's really kind of medium sized, plus I've reshaped it and reduced it from the original size. Both H&B Forge and Fort Turner Forge are great to do business with. I am completely satisfied with tomahawks from both places. The main differences between the hawks I own from both places are the size of the eye and consequently the diameter of the handle and thickness of the blade [not sure what the proper anatomical term is for the "out front" part with the sharp edge on it]. The relatively thinner blade on the Fort Turner takes less effort in the throw to make it stick. My thoughts for what they are worth.

I'd say go with Bear Mountain depending on how much you wanna spend, I have a H&B as well. Their both similar the H&B is their shawnee hawk with the arrow point spike on the back and my BM is the frontiersmen. The H&B is cheaper and definitly still a great hawk but in my opinion the Bear Mountain throws/looks/chops better.
