Where is the video Moose did on how to use a knife lanyard?

Having a heck of a time finding it, or any tutorial on how to properly use a knife lanyard.

I almost removed a left kneecap today. No contact, no blood, but close enough to make my butt slam shut.

It was a video from the last gathering. Not sure where it is right off...

Yep. That is what I remember. But so many videos were posted. I'd rather not have to watch them all again, in speed motion just to find that one little part.

I posted this on a knife safety thread, I believe this is what Moose showed in that video

Hang it from your thumb like this. Make sure the blade is away from you.

Then flip your hand to the "thumbs down" position and grasp the handle like this.

Now chop away!

i ALSO recommend that such lanyards have a floating bit that locks when you use, but is pushed to the knife when not...

some people call it a bush lanyard - with two dangling free ends, there's no full loop to get grabbed on a branch or deer or such, no snag, no pull, no potential for a loss of knife.

none of this is esp new, but it's cool that it's getting out there to a new population

Yeah, that was my fault. I'm a rock and had to have the ambassador of Cro-van explain it to me. Then I think Bladite filmed it. I now use the lanyard, always!

your shame for the internet to know...

funny thing, i don't usually use lanyards. they don't work well with axes and other tools.

they ARE useful, but they are no substitute for being stupid :)

if you are tired, if you are being stupid, or mental, DO NOT USE a knife. really. safety is that easy...

but they are good things, in case spazzing happens.

I am also a big fan of the lanyard, I've got into the habit of using them for any cut that's not already strictly controlled, especially chopping, etc. If they're the right amount of tight, they also add security as well.

They are a good idea and I think everyone should use them.

Heck, I just scored a machete I'm afraid to use until I bore a lanyard hole and lanyard it.

Heh, I almost never use a lanyard, and I've almost paid the price for it. The closest I've gotten so far was when my blade went thru my jeans, around the knee area, but no contact with the skin at all. It prolly woulda nicked my femoral artery if it had made contact, and I thank God every day that it didn't.
