Where should I send my knives to get the cheapest, high quality knife shaprening?

I want to send all of my knives somewhere to get them sharpened with a really nice edge since I suck at doing it myself. Is there any knife manufacturer who I can send my knives to who I can trust to not steal them or screw them up? And at a low cost? I'm kind of paranoid about sending them to small mom and pop type shops since I've had bad experiences with amateurs before. I'd really prefer to send them to a reputable place who won't rip me off.

Thanks a million in advance.

One of the members on here does knife sharpening, Richard J. Do a search - you might be surprised with all the hits and happy customers. If you are still hesitant, maybe send one as a test for him to do. It will come out great. I am sure there are others as well.

im not very good at sharpening either; sometimes they turn out great and sometimes they turn out more dull than when i started. lol
but with practice im managing to make the edges *not* worse more frequently. its pretty satisfying to sharpen a knife and i would encourage you to keep practicing.

Richard J did my bk2 if I could stand to be without one of my knives for a while again I'll send it to him
Come to think of it, I'll be sending out my cold steel spartan shortly

How much does he charge per knife?

Edit: Nevermind. I found his info. $1 per inch sounds pretty good. I guess I'll trust him with my blades since people on these forums seem to hold him in high regard.

Agreed, Richard is a stand up guy. I would not hesitate to send any knife to him if needed. But you may end up learning to sharpen as he enjoys teaching, as much if not more, than doing it himself.

I can certainly attest to the sharpening ability of Knifenut1013 on this forum. His edges are awesome and he's a great guy to boot. He's in suburban detroit.

I would do your research first! Richard J is by far the most in demand knife sharpener in this forum!! His experience and craftsmanship is second to none here. His edges are razor sharp and will retain their edge for a long time. Dont mess with these guys that ll just make your knife pretty with a sharpening and mirror poliish. Give Richard J a try!! Read up on him! If you re not happy with his work i will pay for it! Just a pal of Richards from the forum here. He s done quite a few knives for me! He is the best.

I just sent a Kershaw tyrade titanium to Richard and asked for a beadblasting on the blade and for him to sharpen her up. He got it today and gave me a call to let me know whats up. His prices are VERY reasonable! I'll be sure to pop back in here once the knife comes back. :D

Look around the forum! Richard is by far the best and most popular sharpening guru we have around here! What he does with his paper wheels is magical. His edges are scary sharp! Dont waste any time just go to the best!!!!! Like i said Im so confident that you ll like his work i will pay for all of it if you dont like it!

Another vote for Albert Edmonds at Seattle Edge. The man is an artist. I have been bringing all of my blades to him for about six months and they all come back SCREAMING sharp.
