Where smoke and good wishes rise

Where is your quiet place?

Here in our Victory Garden, smoke wreaths a Budda as he contemplates the rapidly growing squash and pepper plants. Arugula lettuce will hopefully shade him one day, perhaps before the squash forces his relocation.

A garden is an ideal place for meditation, to me.

Another forumite posted neat shots of his knife-laden living room, with his smoke place nearby. I thought that would make a good thread.

What place do you call peaceful enough to light incense in? A garden? A place with a view? Your bunker? :foot:

Post a pic in no hurry, if you've got one.

Mike, great thread idea.
I'm touched. There's a place behind the house, in the thicket of trees and rock by the base of the cliff, where the air is fairly still and you can think. You are above the little mining town nestled in wilderness, safe.
I'm also waiting for the first picture of the solemn water closet.

Mostly that place is wherever I,m standing . If not I make it so or move on .
O:K: O:K: I,ll lighten up . L:O:L
My garden is it for me . I have started to container plant which is a little makeshift so not really a place of tranquility . Maybe I,ll let it settle in a bit and formalise my containers more to suggest a more natural setting . My upstairs neighbour keeps his shrine in a bottle and believes in sharing his religion and philosophy with the neighbourhood . I respect his way . It does not coincide with tranquility . (Unless he passes out ! ) L:O:L

So thats Squash ? I,m starting to like them more . Butternut is a favourite .

Squash lightly blackened/grilled in a George Foreman grill... that works.

Peppers are Cubanelle, hopefully not too spicy. I grew some in 2003 that could have been used as a weapon, they were so hot. No one could eat them.

I go to my shop. Among my tools I am most at peace. I always try to take a moment to calm myself before starting any activity there. Then is when I think of you guys, my family and friends, world peace, etc. Plus I'm praying I don't have an accident with the tools. LOL.

That's how I feel about my reloading equipment, Andy; there is a kind of peace and meditation that I enjoy working with machines.

When I'm at home, it is my prayer corner. I'm an Orthodox Christian, so I light my candle, fire up some incense, and open the doors of my icon shelf. I pick up my prayer rope, and I'm off.
If I'm in the woods, it is literally wherever I am at the moment. Outdoors beats indoors for me every time, hands down.

If they are just too hot you could try marinadeing them . Even raw Jalapenos are too hot for me . I just love them in a marinade . If I ever get a good marinade recipe thar resembles Old El passo or one of the other top brand names I would marinade my own . Mmmmmmm grilled cheese with Jalapeno .

I like growing a garden, Mike. Just don't have a good spot here because of the wooded nature of my lot. Hannah and I grew tomatoes and bell peppers in 5 gal buckets last year. They basically set right on my driveway. We got very low yeild, but it was a good lesson for her. She helped planting through picking. Its exciting to watch anything kids do for the first time.
