Where to begin to learn forging

I live in Missouri and would really love to learn how to forge blades. Are there any schools nearby or weekend jaunts that I may attend in the forseeable future? How did the rest of you learn?
 
But you folks have the Ozark School of Blacksmithing in Potosi. Check the website for class info. Tom Clark who runs it is quite a smith. I personally would love to take classes there, but it's too far for me :)

Tom also makes some really nice tongs and hammers...I just ordered a couple of sets of his "Tom Tongs" yesterday...
