Been wanting to get a forge. Mainly been doing stock removal. I guess from what I've read " blown forge" is the way to go.
Tried to find a link to Darren Ellis Forbes, could not find it
Anyone with knowledge on it how to get a beginner started without having to build my own?

High temp tools dot com sell one, as well as a kit, although it looks like you'll have to buy a blower.

I helped prototype the original Atlas Knife and Tool forges and the Atlas Knife and Tool 66# anvil. It started with the Atlas mini, which is still the cheapest good forge available. The Graham came along after several variations of a blown forge. Charles has done a lot of research, testing, and changes to get his forges and anvils where they are today. He makes them with stainless steel bodies now and a very robust liner material. His burners are simple and work well. You need to play with the burner position in-out to get it running at top performance. His anvils are probably the best bang for the buck in knifemaking anvils. I still have the very first prototypes of the Atlas mini, first Graham (square body), and Atlas 66# Bladesmith anvil serial number1.

The Atlas Graham is a good forge for general knife forging. It is much lower price than the NC forges, but in a different class. It is a tube style forge with a 5"X13" chamber. It is fully open in the front and has a half port in the back. For the money, the Graham is an excellent buy.

Atlas forges are designed for knifemaking, and while good, aren't as versatile as the NC forges, they are very good for knives ... especially on a hobby budget.
