I want a RAT SERE Firesteel like this:

But I find only new ESEE models. Do you know where I can find them ?

Thanks in advance.

That logo is no longer used on our product.

Only chance you have is to call some of the bigger retailers and see if they have some new/old stock laying around.

I've looked all over for older stock kits. Best thing to do is watch the trade areas, but really they don't come up often.

Is it logo, or misch that motivates the desire to obtain the older kits? If it's the metal, swap outs are fairly easy and covered in detail in a few recent-ish threads.

yes, I think is the last solution.

I will open a thread in the " Wanted to buy " section, if someone want to sell his old Firekit...

i actually prefer that cap's shape since it's easier to open with thick, winter gloves on. my suggestion is start calling all the shops especially the smaller ones.

The logo is my first motivation for my collection.

It is true that the shape of the screw cap much easier to open.

Texas Tony Dobbs owns all of them. He will sell them for....(pinky to mouth) one MILLION dollars. :D

TTD threw one out of his own stash in with the pass around ESEE-5. It's a cool little piece. Neat to see the evolution of the fire kits with the different versions.

i think we've counted like 6 versions. i dunno, gotta find the thread but im hammered. damn makers.

As the others said there are quite some of the older ones shown in the shops...

To those guys owning different versions: is there a real difference between the versions in respect of starting a fire? I am quite interested in the mischmetal-thingy because it seems to throw off some really nice sparks ;)

Seems like I have to do some digging of those previously mentioned threads just in case a replacement of the rod is needed as soon as I order my FireKit

main difference is the cap and the rod material ,I like the older style cap better

if you find a dealer selling them shoot them an email before you purchase due to some are lazy and never update the picture of the firekit. but sell the newest version , some still have the dark grey w/o logo posted
