Anyone have a recommendation? Preferably in south La. (Baton Rouge, NOLA, Lafayette...)

Yard sales/estate sales out in the county? I've never been out to LA but it works in GA and NC... I've found all kinds of old tools at yard sales, even an old anvil. I didn't buy it, it was all torn up, but stuff is out there if you look. And are patient!

Contact Chris Marks, he's in that area and probably knows where a few are for sale. Once you really start hunting and asking around they start showing up everywhere...

Check with local farriers. Most have a collection of them and are willing to let them go if they turn a little profit.

Don't know of any right now, haven't been looking for a long while. If you aren't a member of BAM, join. Big blacksmith conference in your town first of May. There will be anvils for sale there.

Oddly enough, I spoke with a lady from chili forge on Friday and she told me about that blacksmithing conference. I didn't even know of it, but then again I just recently moved here. I live about 4 miles from the fair grounds. I'm excited already!

BAM is one of the largest blacksmith groups in the country. Worth a look.

I posted "Wanting to buy anvil" ad on craigslist about a month or so ago and got a bunch of responses. I ended up scoring a nice 155lb Peter Wright for $140. Hit estate sales, antique stores, thrift type stores, flea markets, and check CL daily. They come up every now and again, but they go fast.
