I bought some Elforyn from Atlas a couple years ago. I used it on a couple knives. It is very easy to work because it's softer than I expected. I wouldn't call it an ivory substitute as I'm currently working with some interior mammoth tusk and it is a very different material. Overall I doubt I'll use the Elforyn again, although it sure is a lot cheaper and not prone to cracking.
i have tried most of them. they seem softer than ironwood/g10/micarta. some seemed almost crumbly. i have not tried the juma ivory, but i bet its soft too. paper micarta might work for you because it rarely shows the layer lines.
I have used the "S" grade from guitarpartsandmore but it is also very soft and also feels very light. I'm going to just try ivory g10 on the next one. It's mostly the color i'm after anyway, not trying to replicate ivory. your mileage may vary.
