I have heard great reviews of these and I want to try out a box of them. The problem is that I don't want to buy them online. So are there any chain stores that stock these? I live in Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, if that makes any difference.

I've got 'em at health food stores. I'm also curious as to what kind of grat reviews they get.

Well I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and they had em. It was $3.29 for a box of ~100 which works out to around $.03 a toothpick. As soon as I got into the car, I popped one in to see what it was like. So I will do a mini-review of them.
The Good
The instant you put it in you mouth, you feel the intense flavors. At first the most overpowering flavor is the Tea Tree oil, which has a very unique distinct earthy taste. Then the menthol, fennel and cinnamon kick in. These have way more flavor than any type of gum I have ever tried. After a few minutes, you start to get used to the flavor, so I started to chew on it. With every bite you get another burst of the cocktail of oils. Since this is cheaper per piece than gum and has better flavor in a smaller package, it is a definite winner.

The Bad
I really do like these but there are some drawbacks. First they are very very strong when chewed on. This can easily be overpowering, but that can be solved by not chewing on em. Also they don't last as long as a piece of chewing gum. After a little while the wood gets really water logged and chewing on it produces a mouthful of mulch. This was kinda a downer to me since the flavor was still great, but I was spitting slivers of wood out of my mouth. The last one is really personal for me, but I don't always like to have a toothpick hanging out of my mouth and these toothpicks are just long enough that a tiny bit hangs out when I close my mouth. This can get really annoying.

Overall these are great and I would recommend them to anyone. They are smaller and have better flavor than gum and are something different to try. So far I have eaten 3 or 4 and I just bought em a few hours ago.
