I just bought a new belt grinder and need to know the best place for belts. I don't want any "bargain" belts of low quality. Thank you for your help.:D

I just bought mine from Pop's knife Supply. Best prices I found and second to non service. Mrs. packed and shipped mine within 45min. of my purchase so they will be here tomorrow so I can play.

I highly recommend Supergrit. They have good prices and good quality stuff. I'm biased since they're 30 minutes away from me, but they've always treated me well.

I like Pop's. I love the Klingspor J-Flex. They're very smooth to grind with.

Thank you. I think I'll go with Pop's so far. I keep hearing great things about them. Any others I should look at?

www.trugrit.com as well as Supergrit. Trugrit has the Blaze belts which from what I hear eat up the metal faster than anything. Supposedly the 50 grit Blaze works better than 36 grit standard.

I know. I'll just buy a little from Pop's, Supergrit, and Trugrit to see which one I like the best. Thank you everyone! :D

Wow! That works. Thanks Barkes. Time to go shopping. I got a good chunk of money from the Air Force from a TDY I had just got back from. My Boss (Wife, The Keeper of the Mullah) said I can use ALL of it for knife making :D :D :D:thumbup: since our tax refund was so big this year. Man I love that woman!

I get mine from pop's super guy to deal with. His wife is great too.

Be aware that 36, 50 grits are unforgiving. Both in taking off one's skin/flesh/bones AND, most importantly, leaving really deep scratches
that are a b1tch to clean up. It is OK to start with these grits to hog,
but do switch to 80 as soon as you beging approaching final dimensions.

I bought a bunch from trugrit. I also buy throwaways from McMaster - they
sell "generic" Al-oxide Nortons, very inexpensive.

As you go to finishing grits, having a good belt from top manufacturer
is VERY important. If a speck of 36 grit ends up embedded into your finishing
grit, you might ruin a knife .
